Verna Mae Iman, 84, of Chicora passed away at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 22, 1926, in Butler, the daughter of the late Joseph R. Vandervort and the late Mabel (Herrit) Vandervort.

Verna Mae was a member of the St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She also was a member of the Moose Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the East Butler Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary, AARP and the Tanglewood Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lashier of Hawaii and Deborah Elliott of Chicora; three grandchildren, Joe (Ellen) Elliott, Shawn (Jen) Elliott and Lori Miller; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Vandervort of Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F.T. Iman, who died Dec. 24, 1986, and a granddaughter, Debra Elizando.

<B>IMAN</B> — Friends of Verna Mae Iman, who died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
