Velma Jean Hogg
Velma Jean Hogg, 82, of Meyersdale, Somerset County, died Monday in Meyersdale Hospital.
She was born in New Kensington, Aug. 22, 1928, to the late Grant and Mary Cook and lived in Arnold until moving to Glencoe, Somerset County, in 1980.
Mrs. Hogg worked as a seamstress and presser at Walzer and at Patti's, both in New Kensington, and Arlotti's in Sharpsburg and was a member of the former Trinity United Church of Christ, New Kensington.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her ceramics shop for which she was very proud of the many awards she won.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Larry) Rankin of Arnold, Md.; a son, Edwin L. (Joyce) Young of Butler; grandchildren, Don, Kim, Pam and Debbie Henry, Jimbo, Lisa and David Miller, Jennifer (John Atkinson) Trainer, Lynn Trainer, Jason (Tammy) and Tim Young and Larry Rankin Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Steven Trainer, Aleah Young and several other great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Hogg; a daughter, Violetta “Pinky” Miller; two brothers, Grant Jr. and Tootie Cook; and a sister, Annamae Cook.
