Robert T. Saxman
Robert T. Saxman, 97, of Amber Woods in Cheswick died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center.
Born Nov. 4, 1910, in Sagamore, he was the son of Charles A. and Bertha Crawford Saxman.
He was a graduate of the Rural Valley High School and retired as a machinist at Schenley Distilleries in 1970 after 34 years. He also was a Butler-area dairy farmer and owned and operated the Saxman Florist and Greenhouses.
Mr. Saxman was a member of the Zion United Methodist. He was a member and past master of the Leechburg Area Lodge 577 F&AM, was a 33rd degree Mason, belonged to the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of New Castle and was a past grandmaster.
Surviving are a son, Robert Dean Saxman and his wife, Marge, of York; three daughters, Sheila (Bill) Weckerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, Denise (Chuck) Barger of Butler and Dorinda Sue (Ron) Miller of Natrona Heights; 12 grandchildren, Robert, James, Bill, Eric, Erin, Brian, Mike, Kevin, Keli, Jennifer, Allen and Steven; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Wilson of Kittanning and Jean Bates of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Helen Elizabeth "Hawk" Saxman, died Jan. 26, 1993. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Blair and Russell.

Saxman, who died Sunday, April 13, 2008, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 124 E. North St. The funeral service will follow at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Saxman, a retired Methodist pastor, officiating.
