Leona Mae Pierrel, 85, of Butler, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1939, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Carl Stamm and Zelma (Somerville) Stamm.

Leona attended Mars High School and graduated from Butler High School in 1957. She worked as a supervisor for JCPenney and later for Joe Pierrel Auto.

Christian by faith, she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Above all, Leona cherished time with her family and found her greatest joy in being a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph H. Pierrel, whom she married March 3, 1960; son, Joseph Jay (Melissa) Pierrel; grandchildren, Shawn (Kayla) Pierrel, Joseph (Halie) Hinchberger and Josh (Allyson) Hinchberger; great-grandchildren, Jax, Nixon, Jacques, Izabella and Laynie; brother, Donald Stamm, and sister, Ruth (David) Morris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jodi Hinchberger; and sister, Patricia Thompson.

PIERREL — A visitation for Leona Mae Pierrel, who died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, with Pastor Dave Maitland officiating.

A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Slippery Rock Baptist Camp at 130 Elliot Lane, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
