Irene D. Tamaska

Irene D. Tamaska, 85, of Harrisville, formerly of Butler, died at 7:58 a.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 12, 1923, in Kishinev, Romania, she was the daughter of the late Tihon Dragomir and Vera (Kalmakoff) Dragomir.

She graduated from the University of Bucharest with a degree in languages and liberal arts. She worked for the French Underground during World War II and also the Red Cross.

She retired from Magnetics after 25 years.

She liked flower gardening and loved all animals. She was a Steelers and Penguins fan and enjoyed taking bus trips with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Veronica) McConnell of Butler and Mrs. Gary (Barbara) Weber of Butler; a son, Stephen, and his wife, Joan, Tamaska of Painted Post, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Brian McConnell and Rebecca Weber; a great-grandchild, Destiny Link; and a sister, Tatiana Papij of Romania.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen M. Tamaska, who died Feb. 10, 2001.

<B>TAMASKA</B>— Friends of Irene D. Tamaska, who died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the Blessing service at 8 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W.
