Romaine MacDonald

We were so saddened by the illness and passing of our beloved friend, Romaine MacDonald. Throughout the months of her illness, we were grateful for the wonderful support of her friends, especially Gene Miller, with whom she spoke several times each day, and to so many others who checked on her regularly, who spoke with her on the telephone, and who offered prayers of love and support for her and for us. Deep and sincere gratitude is offered to Gloria Gould, who provided loving care and assistance to Romaine throughout the last months of her life.

When it was necessary for us to take her to the hospital, we received outstanding care from the staff of 5 Main at Butler Hospital. We will always be grateful for the care she received from the nurses and caregivers at VNA Inpatient Hospice. She was provided with respectful care, and her dignity was preserved throughout her stay. We are especially grateful for the wonderful care she received from the nurses and aides with Amedisys Hospice. Their tender caring was a real comfort to her, as well as to us. Special and sincere gratitude to Rev. James Swanson, whose words of encouragement, and the beautiful and moving prayer he offered for Romaine, touched our hearts more than we can say. The visits of her friends at the hospital, as well as at Hospice, were real blessings to Romaine and to us.

We are supremely grateful to our friends at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, especially to Becky, who assisted us in the pre-planning of Romaine’s funeral, and who made certain that each and every one of her wishes were carried out, exactly, according to her desires and to our satisfaction. To the Covenant Church family, adequate words of thanks escape us as we attempt to offer our gratitude for all you have done for Romaine, throughout her illness. Your visits to her were most appreciated, and she spoke of them at length with gladness and joy. The funeral service, poignant and inspiring, would have been so pleasing to Romaine. Special thanks to Leeann Heaton for her moving renditions of Romaine’s favorite hymns.

And finally, to the many friends who came to offer such great tribute to Romaine on a cold and snowy day. Romaine’s many friends, her Covenant Church family, meant the world to her. These are the people who filled Romaine’s world with joy and who made her life complete. Please know that your kindness was most appreciated and your compassion and thoughtfulness will long be remembered.
