TELEVISION Q&A
QUESTION: Growing up in the 1970s I saw a movie called "Aloha, Bobby & Rose." I was never able to find it after that to rewatch. Any ideas?ANSWER: The 1975 movie starred Paul LeMat and Diane Hull as a couple on the run, and was written and directed by Floyd Mutrux. It has been released on DVD; if your local retailer cannot get it, try an online vendor such as Amazon.com.
QUESTION: What happened to former "MacGyver" stars Richard Dean Anderson and Dana Elcar? I remember that Elcar had glaucoma and it affected his eyes. I also have glaucoma. Is there a way I could correspond with him?ANSWER: Unfortunately Elcar, a much-seen character actor who played Peter Thornton on the adventure series, died in 2005. After "MacGyver," Anderson continued to be a frequent presence on the small screen, including in various "Stargate" projects.
QUESTION: I wonder if you could tell me the name of a movie that I saw some years ago. It starred James Brolin as a man who wound up stuck overnight in a large department store after it closed. Instead of a security guard, the store had trained, vicious guard dogs. Brolin had to figure out how to survive the situation.ANSWER: That was "Trapped," a 1973 TV-movie starring Brolin, Susan Clark, Earl Holliman and Robert Hooks. I do not know of an authorized video release, and do not recommend unauthorized versions.
QUESTION: Years ago I saw a movie called "I've Always Loved You" with Philip Dorn and Katherine McLeod, who was a pianist in it. My TCM catalog doesn't list it. Can you locate a source for it?ANSWER: The 1946 film starred both Dorn and McLeod as pianists with a complicated personal and professional relationship. Once again, there was a VHS release but I have not found an authorized DVD.
