The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America is seeking chorus members from the areas of Butler, Mars, and Middlesex and Cranberry townships.

Practice takes place at 7:30 p.m. Mondays in the chapel at LAS/St. John's Lutheran Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenberg Way, Mars.

CRANBERRY TWP - "Writer's Bloc," a poetry and short prose reading, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the meeting room at the Cranberry Library, 2525 Rochester Road.Aspiring writers who would like to read their work along with members of the public may attend.Hosted by Jen Selinsky, a graduate student at Clarion University, the event will include door prizes and refreshments.To sign up to read or for more information, call the library at 724-776-9100.

CRANBERRY TWP - The final Living Stations of the Cross before Easter, as performed by teenagers from St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, will begin at8p.m. Friday at the church, 2535 Rochester Road.Admission is free, but a freewill donation will be taken at the end.Though the church is large, serving 3,500 families, this event is very popular and fills the church. SLIPPERY ROCK - Gallery 164 at 164 S. Main St., is the site of "Material Matters: Fiber Art Invitational" through April 23.The exhibit includes work by Jozef Bajus, Thomas Como, Anna Goebel, Amy Lipshie and Nicole Sarver.An opening reception is planned for 7 p.m. April 16.The exhibition is sponsored by Slippery Rock University's Student Government Association and the SRU College of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts.Call 724-794-3600.

PITTSBURGH - In the final concert of its 70th anniversary year, the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh will perform J.S. Bach's "St. Matthew Passion" with soloists, double choirs and two orchestras.The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.The event is director Brady Allred's farewell performance with the choir.Tickets cost $20 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and $7 for students.
