Daryl Smith
Daryl Kent Smith, 81, of Butler, passed away peacefully at Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family, on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025.
He was born Sept. 24, 1943, at home in Natrona Heights, to the late William and Elva (Perkins) Smith.
He played football for Knoch High School, which he graduated from in 1963. Later, he honorably joined the U.S. Navy. Following the Navy, he earned his associate degree at the Pittsburgh Art Institute. He was able to use his artistic talents at his business, Daryl’s Signs. He was a member of the Art’s Association, American Legion, Butler Outdoor Club and Grace Way Church.
Daryl was very kind and giving. He was a hard worker and loved his family and dogs.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Winnie Joyce Klara and Jill L. Smith; his dear friend, Ruth Ferko; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Daryl was preceded in death by his niece, Cherida Thrasher; and nephew, Bernard Klara.
SMITH — Family and friends of Daryl Kent Smith, who died Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service and full military honors will immediately follow in the funeral home.
Burial will be held privately at Butler County Memorial Park.
