The “Tractor Day at Moniteau” photo and feature (June 3, Page 7) should have been on Page One. It is really refreshing to read news of young folks who know what they plant to do with their lives and who wear “hoodies” that carry their slogan, “Cold. Naked. Hungry. Life without farmers.”

That is not to say that there are not also many other oung people who have made positive plans for their future, but there are not many who want to b epartof the hard work of feeding the rest of us. The skills they learn along with using their tractors for the good of the rest of us will be beneficial for all of us.

Brian Dean’s comments about promotion of agriculture are on the mark, and it is to be hoped that the private famrs continue to exist and don’t disappear, leaving the very large producers and purveyors of foos as our only source of sustenance.

Let’s hope that our schools continue to need agricultural education instructors far into the future.
