Judith Smith
Judith R. Smith, 81, of Hermitage, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at her residence.
She was born March 14, 1944, in Yuba City, Calif., to the late James and Doretha (Deinert) McIntyre.
Judith graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1962. She then decided to enlist in the Army, where she served her country for two years and worked as a medic. After separating from the Army, Judith went on to work for Butler Memorial Hospital for 36 years as a surgical technician.
She was a longtime member of the Sewbroke Quilters, the Coins Bowling League and the Jolly Girls Bowling League. Judith enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, bowling and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, as well as spending time with her loving family.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Michele Malis; her two sons, Kenneth Gilley and Kevin Gilley; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Wilson; her beloved pets, Marty and Malu; as well as her numerous friends, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith; as well as her brother, James R. McIntyre Jr.
SMITH — A visitation for Judith R. Smith, who died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A military service will be held immediately after the visitation, at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service with Pastor David Janz, of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
