Dennis E. Brown
Dennis E. Brown, 58, of Bruin and formerly of Foxburg died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday at his home after an extended illness.
Born in Irwin Township, Venango County, on July 14, 1946, he was a son of the late Earl Brown and the late Dorothy Kirkham Brown.
He retired in July 2002 from Indspec Chemical Co. in Petrolia after 32 years in the labor department.
Mr. Brown was a Methodist.
He was a 1964 graduate of A-C Valley High School in Foxburg. After graduation, he worked at the Parker Glass Plant in Parker and then served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from Nov. 16, 1965, to Nov. 15, 1967.
He was a life member and past commander of the V.F.W. 7073 in Parker and presently was junior vice president in the V.F.W.
Mr. Brown enjoyed the Bruin Bowling League and also was a member of the Tri County Men's League. He belonged to the Petrolia Valley Men's Bowling League and was a member of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had done Micro-car racing with his son Dustin as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette "Polly" Bell, whom he married Feb. 27, 1976.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis "Rocky" Brown Jr. of Bruin and Dustin Brown, who is stationed at Kun Sun Air Force Base in Korea; four brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
BROWN - Friends of Dennis E. Brown, who died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at LARRY E. MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephanie Thompson, pastor of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, officiating.
