Church will host bluegrass group

EAST BUTLER — The Farm Hands Quartet bluegrass group will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at East Butler Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Randolph streets. There is no admission charge, but an offering will be taken.

In 2014, the group won Album of the Year at the Bluegrass Music Awards.

Community prayer scheduled

Butler area Christians are invited to join together for a community prayer at 6 p.m. Saturday at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road.

All churches are invited to participate by hosting community prayer meetings.

Ash Wednesday Masses slated

Blessed ashes will be distributed after the homily at the 8 a.m. and noon Mass and during the 5 p.m. scriptural prayer service Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St.

Ex-Steeler guest at church dinner

VALENCIA —Glade Run Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, will have its annual venison dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Robin Cole, former linebacker with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be the guest speaker.

There is no cost for the dinner, but reservations must be made by calling 724-898-3503.

Church will present organ recital Friday

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will host a recital at 12:15 p.m. Friday in its sanctuary.

The selections by organist George Armstrong will be wide-ranging with an organ symphony by Andre Fluery, ragtime pieces, Chopin waltzes and mazurkas. Everyone is welcome, and tea and coffee will be served.
