Man allegedly caught with over 500 stamp bags
A Butler man was arrested last week for allegedly being in possession of more than 10 bricks worth of heroin.
Butler Township police Thursday charged Mausee S. Brown, 43, of Butler, with two felony counts of possession with intent to sell and four misdemeanor drug charges.
According to charging documents, police received a tip March 31 that Brown would be buying drugs that day in Mt. Chestnut and bringing them to Butler.Police said they waited for the vehicle they knew Brown would be in and observed it leaving the Mt. Chestnut area and traveling east on Route 422 toward Butler.According to documents, there had also been a bench warrant for Brown in an unrelated case, and police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.Police said they found Brown in the passenger seat. The male driver has yet to be charged with any crimes related to the incident.Police said during the stop, Brown retrieved the driver's information from the glove box, reaching under a bag labeled Crown Royal to do so.According to documents, police detained Brown after seeing the bag, and the driver allowed them to continue to search the vehicle.“During the search, this officer retrieved the purple Crown Royal bag from the passenger-side glove box,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.The documents said police found 526 stamp bags of heroin, 15 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a crack pipe, two baggies of marijuana, $165 and one pill of gabapentin, a medication used to control seizures.After his arrest, Brown was arraigned and placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bond.He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing April 15 before District Judge Kevin O'Donnell.<i>Correction</i>In the story titled, “Man allegedly caught with 1,000 stamp bags,” (April 7, page 3) the number of stamp bags was incorrect, as well as the charging agency.Butler Township Police charged Mausee S.
