Donna Carpenter
Donna Carpenter, 84, formerly of Pine Street, Butler, passed away at 3:28 p.m. Sunday in the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born June 28, 1925, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Powel Sr.
Mrs. Carpenter was a charter member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in America. She was a member of the Maqueda Chapter 421 Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem 32 and the Order of the Amaranth 145.
Donna was a secretary at various Butler businesses, including the YMCA when it was part of the Cubs Hall and Preston Laboratories in Meridian. After her retirement, she also did secretarial work as part of the senior aide program.
Mrs. Carpenter was married to Raymond L. Carpenter, who preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1984.
She is survived by one son, John Carpenter, and one daughter, Linda DeLaney and her husband, John, all of Butler; and one brother, Edward S. Powell Jr. of Lorain, Ohio. She also is survived by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy McKinnly; and one daughter-in-law, Joyce Carpenter.
<B>CARPENTER</B> — Friends and family of Donna Carpenter, who died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Ledford of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America officiating.
