BRUIN — Multiple departments in Butler County were called to a fire at a detached garage on the borough’s Main Street on Thursday, Aug. 14.

Two churches were located in the vicinity of the fire. However, aside from a nearby shed having part of its siding melted, no other buildings were damaged.

No one was injured.

According to Bruin Volunteer Fire Department assistant chief Bill Spiegel, the garage was abandoned and already in the process of being demolished when the fire struck.

“It was a garage that was being demolished and it was a spontaneous fire sparked by power tools,” Spiegel said. “I believe it was some sort of cutting operation.”

In addition to Bruin, volunteer fire departments from Chicora, Petrolia, East Brady, North Washington, Parker, Sugarcreek and Eau Claire were also called to the scene.
