Total cost for the six projects is $54,000. Hays said even with the additional costs, $471,000 remains in the project’s contingency fund. One large additional project involved enlarging a retention pond for $25,000. Another relocated a main water line at $23,000.
• Approved allowing substitute teacher Jody Gibbs, who is also a graduate student, to survey 20 students in the middle and high schools regarding her thesis on homework motivation. Gibbs was told she must get written permission from parents before beginning the surveys in the schools’ study halls.

Pettigrew said he negotiated a deal in which the contractor, Flooring Services of Imperial, Pa., will install the rubber tile in certain areas where it has worn. Cost will be about $3,000.
