Cranberry Township woman admitted into ARD in theft by extortion case
A Cranberry Township woman accused of changing the password of her former employer’s business website and demanding a $36,000 ransom was admitted into the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program.
Kelly D. Yockey, 37, was admitted to the ARD program and ordered to serve 18 months of probation Thursday in Common Pleas Court.
In February 2024, Jackson Township police filed felony charges of theft by extortion and unlawful use of a computer against Yockey.
Police alleged Yockey changed the Google business website password of her former employer, Harmony Family Chiropractic, and wouldn’t give the owner access.
She demanded $36,000 in ransom and her final pay, saying the total amount was equivalent to her “value to the business” over a three-year period. Her employment had been terminated Jan. 3, police said.
Yockey said she would take legal action against the business if she didn’t get the money by Jan. 16, according to police.
People in ARD have their charges dismissed and expunged from their records if they complete the program while serving probation.
Judge Joseph Kubit said Yockey’s probation can be terminated in 12 months if she complies with the rules.
He also ordered her to complete 30 hours of community service, have no contact with the victim and not to possess firearms.
