Anglers in Butler County didn't have to look any further than their own backyard to get involved in competitive fishing and to enjoy some of the best bass fishing in Pennsylvania in August, 2005.

Lake Arthur hosted numerous bass tournaments back then, including more than 20 bass competitions, including public and club membership tournaments. The Keystone Bass Buddies Circuit hosted two tournaments per year, one in the spring and the other on Aug. 7, 2005. The tournaments consistently drew more than 100 boats.

The team of Dan Gray and Chris Sumansky, both of Meridian, was able to find a five-fish limit that went 17.31 pounds, taking first place in the 2005 tournament.
