Woman injured in crash on Main Street

One person was injured this morning when a woman lost control of her Jeep and crashed into a utility pole in the 600 block of North Main Street in Butler City, authorities said.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and then transferred to an unspecified Pittsburgh hospital with moderate leg injuries, according to Butler police and firefighters.

Police did not immediately release her name.

The woman was traveling south down North Main Street about 6:40 a.m. when her Jeep Liberty crossed over the northbound lane and slammed into the pole.

Police Sgt. Ben Spangler said it was not known why she lost control if the vehicle but he did not rule out fatigue or a medical condition.

Because of the crash an unknown number of West Penn Power customers are without service.
