TRADEPat Borders, the 1992 World Series MVP who has been playing in the minor leagues, was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday for cash considerations. The 42-year old Borders hit .245 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season with Tr IPle-A Nashville. The Brewers signed him to a minor league contract in November. During the 1992 World Series, Borders batted .450 with three doubles and a home run in Toronto's six-game victory over Atlanta. He spent the 2004 season with Seattle and Minnesota.
INJUREDToronto's Corey Koskie broke his right thumb in Thursday's 4-0 loss to Minnesota. Koskie injured himself sliding into second base in the second inning.
STREAKINGWashington right-hander Livan Hernandez won his sixth consecutive start in Thursday's 3-2 victory over Milwaukee. Hernandez, bothered by an inflamed knee for several days, allowed one run over six innings.
