Eagle staffers receive awards
Five members of the Butler Eagle news staff have been honored this year in two statewide newspaper contests.
Four staff members received awards in the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors Association's contest.
The awards are for two stories and two photographs in the category of daily newspapers with 15,000 to 30,000 circulation.
Staff writer Jim Smith won second place in Best Spot News Coverage for his story about the fire that destroyed the Emlenton Mill.
Staff writer Josh Rizzo took second place in Best Sports Story for his coverage of the Knoch Knights baseball team winning the state title.
Chief photographer Justin Guido placed second in Best Feature Photo for his photograph of an infant holding an American flag while being wrapped inside is father's coat at the Butler Veterans Day Parade.Staff photographer Dave Prelosky took first place in Best Sports Photo with his photograph of action in an Eagle County league playoff game.Sports Editor John Enrietto was honored in the Keystone Press Awards sponsored by the Pennsylvania News Media Association.He won second place for Sports Story for his article about reaction to the Butler High School girls basketball coach not having her contract renewed.That was for daily newspapers with 20,000 to 40,000 circulation.
