Robert A. Fallon
Robert A. Fallon, 78, of Hampton, N.H., a retired corporate executive, died Thursday at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 4, 1929, in Medford, Mass., to James F. Fallon and Helen Grady Fallon.
Raised in Medford, he attended local elementary schools and Medford High School. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and did his undergraduate studies in economics at Harvard University, graduating cum laude, class of 1951. He then received his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1953.
Mr. Fallon married Mary Frances Healey of Cincinnati, Ohio, on Feb. 11, 1956. They raised their six children in Butler.
Mr. Fallon worked for Proctor and Gamble in the advertising division for 11 years. During this time, he was responsible for the advancement of innovative products including Pampers, Prell Shampoo, Head & Shoulders and Scope.
Following his time at Proctor and Gamble, he joined two Harvard Business School colleagues in the acquisition and development of A. Penn Oil and Penn Champ Oil Co. where he served as president.
In the early 1970s, Mr. Fallon was hired as the president of Calgon Consumer Products where he was responsible for the marketing of Sucrets, Calgon bath products and Cling-Free. In 1977, Mr. Fallon became president of Beecham Products following its acquisition of Calgon.
After his retirement in the mid-1980s, he moved to Hampton and managed the family drugstore Donovan & Fallon Rexall at Hampton Beach until 2006.
Surviving are his wife; six children, Anthony Fallon, Rev. Marc Fallon, C.S.C., Laurie Johnson, Amy Vavro, Martha Goodwin and Katie Herbst; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James F. Fallon, of Hampton, N.H., and one sister, Helen Hansen, of Groton, Conn.
