Charles L. "Chuck" Kohler, 88, of Rockenstein Avenue passed away at 10:40 p.m. Saturday in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Charles Kohler and Permilla Lippert Kohler.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. He was the owner of Kohler's Mobil Service Station in Troy Hill area of Pittsburgh and had retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Milnor Lodge 287 F&AM in Pittsburgh, the Pope and Young Archery Club International, a lifetime member of the Butler County Pilots Association, a former director of the Butler Farm Show, a former manager of the Butler Farm Show grounds airport for 30 years, and a 65-year member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

He enjoyed flying, archery, hunting and fishing.

He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II as a captain. He trained with the Royal Air Force and served in Europe, Asia and the Pacific.

Surviving are a sister, Joanne McDonald of Evans City; four nieces, and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Jayne Kohler, Thelma Hindman Kohler and Thelma Dunker Kohler; a sister, Ernestine Kohler, a brother, Harold Kohler and a sister-in-law, Helen Kohler.

<B>KOHLER</B> — Friends and family of Charles Kohler, who died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Merry Meloy of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw.The family suggests donations go to the memorial fund of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 201 E Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.Information and private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
