Edward Hemmes

Edward Hemmes, 78, of Oakmont, formerly of Oil City and Butler, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a three week illness.

Born March 30, 1926, in Clearfield, he was the son of Mabel and Edward Fern and was raised by Elsie and Fritz Hemmes.

Mr. Hemmes, a veteran of World War II, was employed in a variety of positions throughout his long working career.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Hemmes, of Beverly Health Care in Oil City. He was the beloved father of Barry Hemmes of Las Vegas, Marty Hemmes and his wife, Linda, of Oil City, Denise Tiberi and her husband, Paul, of Lakewood, Colo., Annie Potter and her husband, Bob, of Irwin, Debbie Hemmes of Washington, D.C., Ronie Barger and her husband, Bill, of Petaluma, Calif., and Annette Boomer and her husband, Mark, of Virginia Beach, Va.

He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Steven Hemmes, Sherri Hemmes, Heather Conrad, Tim Hemmes, Leslie Rutherford, PJ Tiberi, Victoria Potter, Bobby Potter, Jennifer Barger and Erin Barger; four step-grandchildren, Justin Bennitt, Tanya Bennitt, Amanda Potter and Miles Boomer; and five great-grandchildren, Heather Hemmes, Cody Conrad, Jaylei Hemmes, Jack Rutherford and Taylor Conrad.

HEMMES - In accordance with the wishes of Edward Hemmes, who died Sunday, March 13, 2005, there will be no services. Cremation arrangements are in charge of BURKETT-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME,Oakmont.Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
