[naviga:h3]GCC restarts tours for future students[/naviga:h3]

Grove City College will resume offering campus tours to prospective students and their families, but with some regulations in place for the safety of visitors.

The protocol complies with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Considerations for Institutes of Higher Education health guidelines.

The Grove City College Fall Return Planning Committee will release a broader plan to govern the entire campus community.

The admissions office has been rearranged to ensure social distancing guidelines; signage encourages hand washing and proper social distancing; and additional hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed around the office. The number of visitors in the office will be limited, and each tour will accommodate one family only.

Visitors are encouraged to wear masks, and additional masks will be provided. Staff will be required to wear masks when social distancing may not be possible.

Visitors will receive a confirmation email and a phone call to make them aware of the current protocol, and a member of the admissions staff will be available to greet visitors curbside and provide helpful guidance.

[naviga:h3]Checklist offered to halt spread of pest[/naviga:h3]

Residents can now turn to a printable checklist to stop the spread of the spotted lanternfly.

The list was developed by the Penn State Extension and the state Department of Agriculture and enlists the help of residents statewide in preventing the spread of the spotted lanternfly, an invasive insect that is threatening the agricultural, timber and ornamental industries.

The list is available on the extension’s website and covers items that should be inspected before traveling or transporting them. These items include vehicles, recreational or camping items, outdoor furniture and building materials.

“The arrival of summer and the lifting of shelter-in-place orders have people traveling across the commonwealth,” said Heather Leach, an extension associate in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. “With that comes the potential for travelers to unknowingly spread the spotted lanternfly to other regions.”
