Dr. Charles Krauthammer will receive Hance Award

GIBSONIA — Dr. Charles Krauthammer will be the featured speaker and will be honored April 20 with the Hance Award as St. Barnabas celebrates its 115th Founder's Day.

Krauthammer is a Pulitzer Prize-winner, a syndicated columnist, a best-selling author, a trauma survivor and a physician.

His column is published on the editorial page of the Butler Eagle.

St. Barnabas Charities' annual fundraising dinner will be at the Marriott Pittsburgh North in Cranberry Township and begins with a reception and silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and talk by Krauthammer at 7:30 p.m.

For ticket information, call 724-444-5521 or by visiting www.StBarnabasCharities.com.

Guests may also attend a private VIP reception with Krauthammer before the dinner program, but tickets are limited.

Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which annually provides more than $6 million in free care to needy patients at St. Barnabas.

William V. Day, president of St. Barnabas Health System, will present Krauthammer with the Hance Award, which is named for St. Barnabas founder Gouverneur P. Hance, the lay Episcopalian brother who founded St. Barnabas in 1900 as a refuge for incurably ill men and boys who could not afford their care.

St. Barnabas now includes four retirement communities, three living assistance facilities, two skilled nursing homes, and a community outpatient medical center.
