Iga Swiatek got a hug from Courteney Cox after winning Wimbledon
LONDON — Call this episode of Iga Swiatek's marvelous tennis career “The One Where Iga Swiatek Got A Hug from Courteney Cox After Winning Wimbledon.”
Swiatek is a huge fan of the TV sitcom “Friends,” and actress Courteney Cox — who played Monica Geller on the show — was at Centre Court on Saturday when the Polish star's 6-0, 6-0 victory over Amanda Anisimova earned her a championship at the All England Club and sixth Grand Slam title overall.
When the match ended, Swiatek went into the stands for celebratory embraces, including one from Cox.
Shortly before the start of last year's French Open, Swiatek hit some tennis balls for fun with the actress.
Then, after Swiatek won that tournament for the fourth time, she wore custom-made white sneakers that her shoe sponsor stenciled with the words, “ The One Where She Wins Her Fifth Grand Slam” in all capital letters, a nod to the way the names of “Friends” were titled.

Singer Chris Brown pleads not guilty to 2 further charges over London nightclub assault case
LONDON — Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown on Friday pleaded not guilty to two further charges related to the serious beating of a music producer with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023.
Brown, 36, denied the more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm at a hearing last month.
The singer, wearing a light brown suit, pleaded not guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw at the Tape nightclub in the swank London neighborhood of Mayfair in February 2023.
He also denied having an offensive weapon — a bottle — in a public place during the short hearing at Southwark Crown Court.
Around 20 fans sat in the public gallery behind the dock for Friday’s hearing, with several gasping as the singer of “Go Crazy,” “Run It” and “Kiss Kiss” walked into the courtroom.
Co-defendant — Brown's friend and fellow musician — Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also denied actual bodily harm on Friday.
The 2023 attack was caught on surveillance camera in front of a club full of people, prosecutors said.
Brown was released in May on bail of 5 million pounds ($6.75 million), which allowed him to start his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour. Following a series of dates in Europe, he's set to return to North America at the end of July to play in Miami, before moving across the U.S. with a two-night stop in Toronto along the way.
Brown, who rose to stardom as a teen in 2005, won his first Grammy for best R&B album in 2011 for “F.A.M.E..” He earned his second in the same category for “11:11 (Deluxe)” earlier this year.

New Justin Bieber album nods to marital issues Hailey denied
Justin Bieber’s new album refers to relationship issues that are being interpreted as nods to turbulent times in his marriage to Hailey Bieber, even calling her out for pretending everything is peachy.
The 31-year-old “Peaches” singer’s newest album, “Swag,” arrived Friday with 21 new songs and plenty of grist for the rumor mill.
“Daisies,” the second track, asks, “Throwin’ petals like, ‘Do you love me or not?’… You said ‘Forever,’ babe, did you mean it or not?” The Grammy winner then croons, “If you need time, just take your time/ Honey, I get it, I get it, I get it.”
Fourth track, “Go Baby,” acknowledges when “it gets hard to face … Nothing needs to work out and nothing needs to break/ Don’t need to pretend that you’re OK.”
But maybe the most telling of the songs is “Walking Away,” in which Bieber sings “I think we better off if we just take a break/ And remember what grace is.
“Baby, I ain’t walking away/ You were my diamond/ Gave you a ring/ I made you a promise/ I told you I’d change/ It’s just human nature/ These growing pains/ And baby, I ain’t walking away.”
Hailey, 28, on Thursday reportedly captioned a shot of the album cover art, “Is it finally clocking to you f — ing losers?” in an Instagram story. At the time of publication, that particular post was not up.
In May, in the cover story for Vogue’s Summer Issue, the Rhode founder shut down any speculation that the marriage is on the rocks. On the contrary, she said, the majority of stories published about her are “not real.”
“Swag” marks Bieber’s seventh studio album and first since 2021’s “Justice.”
