Police still seeking Thursday's robber
MIDDLESEX TWP — Police are still looking for the middle-aged man who robbed the Northwest Savings Bank on Thursday in the township, and they have few leads in the investigation.
Sgt. Randy Ruediger said police are reviewing and enhancing surveillance footage from the midday robbery. They don't believe the man was armed and he didn't take a significant sum of money.
Ruediger said he will talk with the Butler police about the robbery Monday of the National City Bank on Center Avenue and look for any similarities between the separate incidents.
The surveillance footage from the Middlesex robbery captured a man between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a scruffy mustache and beard. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt that covered most of his face and brown mechanic's overalls.
Police are confident they'll catch the man but are hampered by the poor quality of the surveillance footage at the bank on Route 8.
Witnesses said the man drove off in a blue car headed north on Route 8.
Anyone with information on the Northwest Savings Bank robbery should call the Middlesex police at 724-898-3533.
