ZELIENOPLE — The borough mayor on Wednesday issued a second proclamation banning outdoor burning because of drought-like conditions.

Mayor Tom Oliverio re-issued the proclamation on the same day that the former one expired. Under borough ordinance, he must issue a new order every seven days.

The text of the proclamation is the same as the last one issued a week ago. Under the order, anyone found violating the ban can be fined $300.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The episode of “School Spirits” featuring an allegedly haunted Slippery Rock University fraternity house will be broadcast at 10 p.m. Wednesday on the SyFy channel.The episode originally was to be shown July 25. The SyFy channel is channel 5 on the Armstrong system.

Butler native Bret Michaels is lending his fame to help his hometown.The Poison frontman has listed a charity auction on eBay to benefit the Butler police K-9 fund.The auction is running until Aug. 3 and offers the winning bidder two tickets and two backstage passes to watch Poison perform on stage in concert Aug. 14 at the First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown, Washington County.Following the concert, the winning bidder will have photos taken with Michaels on the band’s tour bus.Also up for auction is an autographed Dean acoustic Bret Michaels edition guitar and two Butler Police K-9 shirts.Those interested in bidding are advised to access Michaels’ Facebook page or www.bretmichaels.com to find the link to the eBay auction page.Police said proceeds will go to the fundraising campaign for the city to buy two dogs for the department’s first K-9 unit.
