The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday, July 8, that Double Road, located in Butler and Connoquenessing townships, will be closed July 14 through 26 as part of a corridor improvement project for state Route 68.

Double Road will undergo a full-depth asphalt replacement to restore its structural integrity. During the closure, a detour will be put in place, with motorists directed onto Dick Road by Route 68.

The temporary closure is part of a three-year project that includes the installation of a new turn lane, as well as signal replacements and other changes meant to improve safety and reduce congestion. The project is estimated to finish by November at a cost of $18.7 million.
