Pittsburgh Passion mulling playing games at Mars
MARS — The Pittsburgh Passion women’s professional football team is reportedly considering the idea of playing some of its 2026 schedule at Marburger Field.
According to Mayor Gregg Hartung at a borough council meeting Monday, July, 7, the team will send a representative in mid-July to scope out the football field on Hazel Avenue.
“They want to come in mid-July and look at the facility to see if it has any potential for some games to be played there next year,” Hartung said.
The team, which plays in the Women’s Football Alliance and is partially owned by the estate of Pittsburgh Steelers legend Franco Harris, currently plays its games at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock.
“They’re already hearing people rumbling about how it’s too far away (from Pittsburgh),” Hartung said.
According to Hartung, the team also is looking at other fields, mainly concentrated around the Cranberry Township area.
