Rolland E. Sherrieb Sr., 63, of Buffalo Township died at noon Thursday while in the company of family members at Allegheny Valley Hospital.

Born Dec. 30, 1940, in Sarver, he was the son of Robert H. and Olive Mae (Falkner) Sherrieb.

He worked as a furnace operator at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge for 36 years and retired in 2003. He was the husband of Lauren Kathleen (Furl) Sherrieb. They were married for 39 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport. He served in the Navy and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife; his mother; two sons, Rolland E. Sherrieb Jr. of South Buffalo Township and Matthew W. Sherrieb of Wooster, Ohio; and four brothers, Mervin R. Sherrieb of Houston, Texas, Gary L. Sherrieb of Findley, Ohio, David L. Sherrieb of Brownsville, Ohio, and Bruce M. Sherrieb of Freeport. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

- Friends of Rolland E. Sherrieb Sr., who died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Neal officiating.
