Schedule for fireworks displays in Butler County

Thursday, July 3

√ Saxonburg will have a fireworks display hosted by New Christian Life Ministries, which will begin at 9:30 p.m. and be set off from the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company carnival grounds. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the carnival grounds and buses will provide trips between the grounds and the church, 139 Knoch Road, until 11 p.m.

√ The North Country Trail Association will hold a short hike at 7:30 p.m. to see West Sunbury’s fireworks display. The group will meet at the Route 308 trail head, 1347 West Sunbury Road in West Sunbury, at 7:30 p.m. Hikers should bring a flashlight or headlight and a camp chair or blanket, as well as any snacks they would like to have during the event. Register for the hike by emailing but@northcountrytrail.org, and provide your name, phone number and your interest in the fireworks hike.

Friday, July 4

√ The City of Butler will begin its fireworks display at dusk, and they will be set off from Historic Pullman Park.

√ Fourth of July Fireworks at the Big Butler Fair is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. after a day of activity including the carnival, antique tractor pull and horse show. More information can be found at bigbutlerfair.com.

√ Mars will commemorate Fourth of July with a downtown festival from 2 to 6 p.m., as well as a parade at 5 p.m., which will be led by pets and bikes, followed by first responders and other participants. Fireworks will take place at a new location behind St. John’s church this year. More information can be found on the borough’s website.

√ Slippery Rock’s Independence Day celebrations is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on 101 S. Main St., offering an afternoon of food vendors and live music, culminating with fireworks beginning at around 10 p.m.

√ Zelienople will kick off Independence Day at 8 a.m. with the annual Firecracker 5K and 1-mile run at the Zelienople Community Park. The run will be followed by free swimming at the Zelienople Community Pool, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day’s activities, also at the park, will include live music, food trucks and basket raffles, concluding with fireworks later in the night. A parade, organized by the Zelienople Rotary Club, also will take place at 11 a.m. down Main Street.

Saturday, July 5

√ Harrisville will have a Community Day Independence Day Celebration, which will begin with a parade at 11 a.m. and end with fireworks at dusk. The event will also feature bounce houses, tug-o-war, potato sack races, face painting, food vendors, Amish doughnuts and more at Harrisville Community Park on Wick Avenue in Harrisville.
