Michelle Allen is the new executive director of the Butler County Humane Society in Connoquenessing Township. She said she wants to increase community education throughout the county.

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The Butler County Humane Society's new executive director hopes to increase community education throughout the county.

Michelle Allen of Butler started in the position on Oct. 27. Allen said she previously worked as assistant to the principal at a nonprofit Christian day school.

Allen said her main goal for the humane society is to provide pet-related education to Butler County residents through on-site programs and seminars.

“I would like to make the Butler County Humane Society be known as the go-to for lost and found dogs and cats and to uphold our mission to provide a safe haven on their journey home,” Allen said.

She added her transition into the position was smooth and she is excited to use her love for dogs and cats to help animals in need.

“I'm looking forward to the opportunity and I'm very happy to have been chosen,” Allen said.

The humane society is open daily at 1015 Evans City Road.
