Eagles hang on for playoff win
Isaac Thrasher scored 14 points as the Grove City boys basketball team hung on for a 46-42 win over George Junior Republic in the quarterfinals of the District 10 4A playoffs Thursday night at Farrell High School.
The Eagles (17-6) led 28-17 at the half, but George Junior closed the gap in the second half.
But Grove City survived and will play Sharon Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
Marcos Cintron added 12 points for Grove City.

Bowling
Ashley McCue rolled a 557 series with a game-high of 194 to finish 11th at the WPIBL girls individual bowling championships at Sims Lanes in Beaver Falls.
Mercedes Belch was 19th with a 515 series, but had a high game of 208.
Johnna Hill won the title. She rolled a 689 series to get to the stepladder final and then bowled a 245 in the championship to win easily.
Hill didn't have a sub-200 game.
