Charles N. Porter
Charles N. Porter, 84, of Manor Drive, Valencia, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born Sept. 11, 1920, in Millerstown, he was the son of Charles N. and Ida K. Phillips Porter.
Mr. Porter retired in January 1986 as a superintendent for the Mellon-Stuart Construction Co. after 34½ years.
He was a member of the Glade Run Presbyterian Church.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the Mars American Legion Post.
Surviving are his wife, Viola Kummer, whom he married Dec. 15, 1952; two sons, Keith C. and James N. Porter, both of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara Jo) Forsman of Lower Burrell; a stepson, Robert E. Kaufmann of Butler; and a sister, Frances L. Schmidt of Saxonburg. Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
His first wife, Edna E. Hamilton Porter, died in March 1948. Two brothers also preceded him in death.
PORTER - Friends of Charles N. Porter, who died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will follow at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev John Rickloff officiaitng.
