Mary M. McDeavitt

Mary M. McDeavitt, 89, formerly of the Butler Arbors Apartments and of South Chestnut Street died Friday at Williamsburg Health Care, Crawfordsville, Ind. She moved to Indiana in 2000 to be with her family.

Born April 14, 1915, in Herman, she was a daughter of William E. and Luella McLaughlin Miller.

She retired after more than 40 years as cosmetologist and beautician and owned and operated Mary's Beauty Shop on South Chestnut Street until 1981.

Mrs. McDeavitt was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers. She also had been a volunteer foster grandparent with Butler County Community College program for years and enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are three sons, James T. McDeavitt of Winston Salem, N.C., Edward J. McDeavitt of Crawfordsville and Joseph A. McDeavitt of Clermont, Fla.; two brothers, Leo Miller of Butler and John Miller of Las Vegas; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Schnur of Herman. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

McDEAVITT - Friends of Mary M. McDeavitt, who died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday atGEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Herman.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
