Donald T. Redmond

Donald Theodore Redmond, 77, of Portersville, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, died of natural causes unexpectedly at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born May 20, 1932, in Butler County, he was the son of Horace and Margaret L. Stul Redmond.

He retired from Lava Crucible in Zelienople, where he ran a mixer. He also had done a number of other jobs at Lava Crucible.

He enjoyed fishing, boating and in his earlier years hunting. He loved riding his motorcycle and rode up until last year.

He was a Protestant.

He married Phyllis Ruth Gilson on July 3, 1958, and she died April 20, 2007.

He is survived by a son, Jay Douglas Redmond) and his companion Toni Chieze) of New Castle; a brother, John (and wife Mary) Redmond of California; two sisters, Leona (and her husband the Rev. Kenneth L.) McDeavitt of Butler and Erma Lou Throne of South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Brittany Redmond.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gaylord, Lester and Virgil Redmond.

<B>REDMOND</B> — Friends of Donald Theodore Redmond, who died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Meling, pastor of the Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.
