Mullins, Ward key SRU soccer win

Kara Mullins and Shelby Ward both notched a second-half goal as the Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team defeated visiting Indiana (Pa.) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.

Ward’s tally came off an assist from Mullins while goalkeeper Dana O’Neill made two saves in the shutout.

The Rock (4-1, 2-1) travels to Clarion University on Saturday.

Women’s Field HockeySRU tallied three second-half goals to defeat visiting Mercyhurst 3-2.Ally Banks scored the first two goals and Allison Shade managed the game-winner with just over two minutes left in the second half.Slippery Rock (4-3, 1-1) plays at Seton Hill this Saturday.

Women’s VolleyballButler County Community College made it a clean sweep against both Community College of Beaver County and Mercyhurst North East.The Pioneers defeated CCBC 3-0 by scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17. Jessica Prelec had 22 assists in the win, Julia Kleinfelder 12 kills, Makenzie Huey nine kills and Bethany Easom 15 digs.In a 2-0 victory over Mercyhurst NE (25-11, 25-13), Kleinfelder added seven kills and Christina Farmer five kills.BC3 improves to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
