Veterans and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic in honor of Women Veterans Day on Saturday, June 14.

VA Butler Healthcare will hold a women veterans summer picnic at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center at 245 Harmony Road, Slippery Rock Township. The event is open to all veterans and their families and will feature food, music, activities and interactions with horses.

Attendees can learn more about VA programs and will have an opportunity to enroll on site. Veterans interested in enrolling must bring a copy of their DD-214.

Women Veterans Recognition Day is observed annually on June 12 to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which gave women the right to serve in the Armed Forces.
