State police questioned that teen, a 15-year-old boy.
But, according to court records, investigators later determined the burglary was committed by three other people: two 18-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy.
According to court records, one of the men, Jeremy J. Rutherford, entered the house around 3 a.m. Oct. 22 by forcing open a basement window.
Once inside, Rutherford opened a door to allow entry to the 16-year-old, who is not identified in court records, as well as Joshua C. Ingram, also 18, according to court documents.
Homeowner Jodi Thompson and her family were not in the house. They already had moved into a newly constructed home nearby, but still kept some belongings in the former residence.
The trio of burglars reportedly ransacked the vacant house, throwing household goods and clothing about the floor. The burglars also punched and kicked holes in the walls, according to court documents.
The threesome reportedly stole, among other things, a uniform and handcuffs the victim kept stored in the house.
Ingram and the boy later that same day returned to the house and spent the night sleeping on an upstairs, bedroom floor, according to court documents.
Rutherford rejoined the pair in the morning, and the threesome took their stolen goods to a nearby field and showed it to neighborhood children, according to court records.
District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Rutherford and Ingram on charges of burglary, trespassing and criminal mischief. The defendants are free on $15,000 bail each.
Preliminary hearings for the men are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stoughton's office.
Officials did not say if the boy would be charged in juvenile court.
The men list the same 246 Main St. address. However, court records say Rutherford's driver's license was issued in Arizona, while Ingram's license was issued in Pennsylvania.
