Carl 'Mickey' Wible
Carl Wayne "Mickey" Wible, 89, 812 Enterprise Road, Grove City, passed away peacefully in the Grove City Medical Center at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday with his wife and some family members following a brief illness.
Mr. Wible was born on June 6, 1920, in Grove City, a son of W. Dewey Wible and Mary Campbell Wible.
He attended Grove City schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Wible lived in Grove City as a young man until he met the love of his life, Virginia Elder of Butler. He moved to Butler, and the couple were married in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Butler on March 31, 1941.
While living in Butler, Mr. Wible worked as a tool and die maker at Hoffman Automotive, Pullman-Standard, and the American Bantam Car Co. In 1947, Mr. Wible and his family moved to Grove City where he had lived to the present. His other jobs included the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as a factory representative and Kellogg Cereal, as a promotion sales manager. He also worked at the Cooper Energy Co. in Grove City, quality control; Maximon Machine Co., in Altoona and in Grove City, as a product manager and branch manager.
He also was owner and manager of Western PA Industrial Supply, a company he started and retired from in 1995.
Surviving besides his beloved wife, Virginia, are four children, William W. Wible of Largo, Fla., Carol Van Voorhis and her husband, George "Mick," of King of Prussia, Pa., Shawnee Denbow and her husband, Harold "Bud," of Grove City, and Shelley Surrena and her husband, Rich, of Medina, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jacy Steinmetz and her husband, Kenny, Jennifer Venezia and her husband, Frank, Ryan Surrena, Chad Surrena, Jarrod Denbow and Kent Denbow; and three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Steinmetz, Matthew Steinmetz and Emily Venezia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Grace Wible; his brother, John Wible; and his Aunt Elizabeth "Bebe" Allen, who helped raise him and his brother.
<B>WIBLE — </B>Friends of Carl Wayne "Mickey" Wible, who died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, </B>306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Milliken, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Grove City.The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St. Grove City, PA 16127
