Woman faces DUI, other charges
A city woman faces a hearing next month on charges she was nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol and on drugs when she crashed her minivan into a car in Butler and drove off.
Haley J. Russell is charged with drunken and drugged driving in the hit-and-run wreck about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at North Main and West Pearl streets in front of the Armstrong Cable building.
Butler police said Russell did not stop after her van hit a car driven by Kelsey C. Wallace, 20, of Butler. Wallace suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Officers a short time later found Russell standing next to the van on Coal Street. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, according to a police report, after admitting that she had taken prescription Suboxone before the wreck.
The toxicology report last month showed Russell’s blood-alcohol level was 0.238 percent, police said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Additionally, the results indicated the presence of marijuana and prescription painkillers.
Police on Dec. 10 charged Russell with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and accidents involving injury while not properly licensed, all misdemeanors.
She also was cited for driving without a license, making an improper right turn, failing to yield the right of way and driving without insurance.
A preliminary hearing is March 18.
