CARLSBAD, Calif. — Butler native Thomas Moses was named to the Gemological Institute of America Board of Governors at its November meeting.
Moses, who also was named executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer at the meeting, is an integral part of the GIA's gem identification and research efforts, the organization said. He earned his graduate gemologist degree from the GIA in 1976 and began his career at its labs in 1977.
In 1988, Moses was appointed vice president of identification services and advanced to vice president of identification and research services in 2003. In 2005, the GIA named him senior vice president of laboratory and research.
Thomas Moses is the son of Merril Moses of Moses Jewelers in Butler and Seven Fields.
WEXFORD — Cochran Infiniti is relocating its Monroeville Infiniti dealership to a temporary facility along Perry Highway in Wexford.The move was made as the company prepares to break ground on a new Infiniti showroom and service center to be adjacent to its Volkswagen dealership at 11750 Route 19, Wexford.The new showroom is slated to open in September of 2014. Until then, the dealership will operate from a leased facility at 10885 Perry Highway.The only Infiniti retailer in Western Pennsylvania, Cochran Infiniti also is in Pittsburgh's South Hills. That dealership also is getting a new showroom.
CRANBERRY TWP — Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores will open a new Sears Home Appliance Showroom store at 2045 Mackenzie Way, Suite 400.The store, which will carry a full line of top 10 brands of home appliances and mattresses, is scheduled to open Dec. 19.Each Sears Home Appliance Showroom store is equipped with an Internet kiosk where customers are guided by sales staff to view similar products, price match with other retailers and order products not available in the store.They also offer installation and repair services from trained technicians.
PITTSBURGH — At the Bridgeway Capital Annual Event, The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton was awarded the 2013 Impact Award.Each year, the organization presents the award to an individual or company who helps promote a thriving region.The award was presented to William Marsh, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of bank, at the event at Heinz Field.Bridgeway Capital helps underserved populations by providing capital and education to promote business and job growth.
Butler County Ford, 400 S. Main St., is a food bank drop-off location during November. The food will be donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Butler.Butler County Ford also will match the cost of food collected and make a monetary donation to the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Butler.Each person who donates will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $250 Field & Stream gift card. The winner will be chosen in early December.Butler County Ford will accept donations until the end of November.
GIBSONIA — Consolidated Communications has donated $500 to the United Way of Butler County.The telecommunications provider held a contest on its Facebook page inviting users to “like” the page. For each new “like,” the company gave the United Way chapter $1.The promotion was open during September.
JEFFERSON TWP — Penn United is donating $6,000 worth of toys to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in honor of one if its workers who died in a February accident.Machinist Mark Bishop, 52, of Butler was a Toys for Tots volunteer.Penn United employees held various fundraisers to collect the money. A Penn United client donated all the batteries for the toys.The Bantam Marine Detachment 743 is distributing the toys Dec. 13 at Moraine Pointe Plaza.
COVINGTON, Ky. — The Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Harrisville was honored Nov. 14 at Leisure Systems annual symposium here.The Harrisville franchise was honored as one of the three Entrepreneurs of the Year for strong year over year growth.It also earned a Customer Service Award and a Recreation Award.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Butler North KOA Campground has been awarded the 2014 KOA President’s Award by Kampgrounds of America.The President’s Award is presented annually to campgrounds that receive high scores in customer service in KOA’s quality review.The award was presented Thursday at KOA’s Annual International Convention in Austin.
