Lucy B. McCarl, 89, of Boyers passed away at 8:55 a.m. Friday at Orchard Manor after a short illness.

She was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Boyers. She was the daughter of the late Sabatino DeMatteis and Gertrude Cardella DeMatteis.

She was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She had worked at Thompson Markets in Boyers and West Sunbury.

Lucy was the last surviving member of Sabatino DeMatteis family.

She is survived by four sons, D. James McCarl of East Brady, Clifford T. “Nick” McCarl and his wife, Pam, of Boyers, Robert N. McCarl and his wife, Sandy, of Florida, and Donald “Zipper” McCarl and his wife, Lisa, of Butler. She also is survived by 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David N. McCarl, who passed away June 25, 1970; five sisters; five brothers; and two daughters in-law.

Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Boyers at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kevin Poecking officiating.Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery.
