Sen. Vogel introduces legislation to create license system for music therapists
State Sens. Elder Vogel, Jr., R-47th, and Carolyn Comitta, D-19th, have introduced legislation to create a licensing system for music therapists in Pennsylvania.
The proposed legislation, Senate Bill 579, would establish a path for music therapists to receive a professional license, as well as a board certification exam, continuing education requirements and a code of ethics. Pennsylvania does not currently possess a professional licensure system for music therapy.
Only 19 of the 50 states have a licensure or certification program for music therapy.
