Nancy J. Elm
Nancy J. Elm, 48, of Avalon died Wednesday in a small plane crash in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County.
Born April 23, 1956, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Claire Funke Elm.
An avid skydiver with jumps numbering in the thousands, she twice was a participant in the World Record Setting Woman’s Freefall Formation with 104 women in 1996 and 147 women in 1997. She was a member of the U.S. Parachute Association and was the recipient of the Double Diamond Wings and the Twenty-Four Hours of Freefall awards.
She was the beloved sister of Joseph P. (Rosemarie) Elm of Middlesex Township, Kathleen (James) McKeag of Clinton Township, Susan (Gary) Gimmestad of Georgia and Claire (George) Groll of McCandless; and the loving aunt of Joe, Stefanie and Jonathan Elm of Middlesex Township, Kevin, Tim and Colleen McKeag of Clinton Township and Jennifer and Jessica Groll of McCandless.
ELM — Friends of Nancy J. Elm, who died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Richland Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, Glade Mills, with the Rev. Dan Mauer officiating.
