John V. Bender

Bender

John V. Bender, 60, of Buffalo Township died 12:42 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison Township, Allegheny County.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Nov. 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Karl V. and Dorothea J. Thiesen Bender.

He worked at NUMAC in Apollo after graduating from Bowling Green University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Mr. Bender then was drafted into the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a precision photographic processor deciphering aerial photographs of enemy locations, equipment and troops.

After the war, he went back to work at NUMAC for a number of years. Then he took a job as a technical support specialist at the Brinkmann Instrument Co., of Westbury, N.Y., and has worked out of his home for it for the past 28 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, hunting, fishing and restoring old cars.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Jeanne A. Waggoner Bender; a son, Brian Bender of Elkland, Tioga County, and a brother, Raymond Bender of Toledo, Ohio.

<B>BENDER</B> — Friends of John V. Bender, who died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>REDMOND FUNERAL HOME</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
