Linda Jean Allen, 59, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit in Cabot after a short battle with breast cancer.

She was born May 23, 1950, in Butler, the daughter of the late Robert Cockroft and Helen (Shaffer) Cockroft.

She was a member of the Christ Outreach Church.

She retired from the Armco Credit Union, where she was a bank teller.

She loved being a mother and a grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, John G. Allen, who she married Jan. 10, 1970; a daughter, Mary Ann Allen of Glenshaw; a son, Mark John and his wife, Michele, Allen of Butler; a grandson, Joseph Michael Allen; a sister, Mary and her husband, David, Shulik of Clark, Pa.; and a brother, Robert and his wife, Debbie, Cockroft of Prospect.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

<B>ALLEN</B> — Friends of Linda Jean Allen, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at noon Thursday with her pastor, the Rev. Ken Palmer, officiating.
